Fresno County : Investing In The Future

The Republican Party of Fresno County has made some major improvements in its membership organization to more effectively execute its tasks.  From its communications and outreach efforts to training and support for its activists and officials alike, Fresno County has strived to reach new levels of professionalism and strength from top to bottom.  At its core, the county's goals remain simple: elect Republican candidates to office, promote Republican  ideas and principles, and further motivate others to put those ideas in to action and spread our message.

Bringing leadership training home.  To help reorganize itself and strengthen the county party's institutional knowledge, it brought in Project for California's Future for three different classes: Campaign Communications, Campaign Management and Campaign Finance.  The county was able to utilize the knowledge acquired in these in-depth classes to refocus its efforts and increase its operational efficiency from top to bottom with new knowledge, tactics, and information to apply in fundamental ways.

FresnoCountyGOP.com was reborn.  To more effectively spread its message and in turn provide others with necessary information, new tools were needed.   Fresno took a common county route in professionalizing its look and method of communication by contacting SunStar Media for an immediate website overhaul.  FresnoCountyGOP.com was reborn, with new features - allowing visitors to easily click from one link to the next, a quickened and more intuitive manner of signing up to volunteer, donate to the party, access to current news articles, upcoming events, contacting our elected officials, and read information about the Republican candidates.

Once the new website was up and running, Fresno looked to improve its direct email communication.  Enlisting the services of Constant Contact, an online, web-based email service, the county was able to personalize each email it sent and provide links to their new website and other areas of interest.  The results were immediate - the county received many positive comments its professionalized and efficient email distributions and website.   By investing in two easy and low-cost upgrades, its image and messaging effectiveness improved many times over.

Investing resources now for GOP success in 2008.  In 2008, Fresno County will be in the center of the #1 targeted Assembly race when Democrat Assemblywomen Nicole Parra is termed out.  The Fresno County Voter Registration Committee, along with the county's two Republican Women Federated clubs, is working to register voters and ensure a Republican Party presence at community events throughout the district - laying the groundwork for an effective allocation of resources and beginning an early GOP campaign to reclaim this assembly seat in 2008.

Outreach to community organizations and elected officials.  Fresno County has been successful in its outreach to the business community, having developed a solid working relationship with the Fresno and Clovis Chambers of Commerce.  As Republican Chamber members have been encouraged to become involved in the county party's activities, efforts to seek out and elect pro-business, Republican candidates has also occurred - resulting in a greater level of coordination between the party and pro-business community groups.

259 Republican officials representing Fresno County have been identified by the party.  The Candidate Recruitment Committee keeps this database up to date and promotes a relationship between the party and the county's elected officials - encouraging involvement and attendance to events by sending ½ price or complimentary tickets.  Because of renewed outreach efforts to candidates and potential candidates, the county party is regarded as a reputable resource, providing advice and support to future Republican candidates.
