Republican Health Care Website Shows Real Impact on Taxpayers and Economy

7/11/2007

As we debate significant changes to California's health care system, most people have no idea what we are talking about when we discuss terms like "ERISA," "high risk pool" or "individual mandate."

But how we address these and many other significant issues in the health care debate will significantly impact how much you and your family pay for health coverage, the quality and availability of medical care, and the fate of many local businesses.

We believe it is important that California taxpayers fully understand the impact the various proposals will have on their wallets, jobs, the economy and the entire health care system.
That's why we have created an informative new one-stop website where Californians can learn in easy-to-understand language how the proposed measures will affect health care for families and businesses.

To help you cut through the rhetoric and confusing language, our new health care website details the specific ideas that have been outlined in the various proposals - in clear terms and plain language, without bureaucratic flow charts.

In addition to signing up for our health care e-newsletter, you can learn about the 18 common-sense health care reforms proposed by Assembly Republicans, which will maximize choice, reduce costs and increase access to care for all Californians.

We invite each of you to send your personal stories about how health care reform would impact you and your family. What would happen to your business or your job if a new 7.5 percent jobs tax were passed? How would the plans impact the quality care you have come to expect? We want to hear from you.

Health care reform should not be about statistics or words you can't pronounce. We hope our website will keep you informed as we work to strengthen health care for Californians in a fiscally-responsible manner.
