City of Clovis Councilmember Lynn Ashbeck
In Clovis, we believe that people define our community. Certainly architecture, traffic circulation, the mix of residential and commercial construction, and other factors are important to our growth and development. But people really determine what our community is all about. That’s why we work hard to engage our residents and business owners in the process of building our community. We believe doing so is tantamount to our success. Whenever possible, we turn to the people who call Clovis home for their thoughts and feelings. Whether it’s about encouraging infill development, establishing a traffic pattern, creating a park, or building a new police and fire center, we involve our residents as much as possible in the process. What you see in Clovis are scores of neighborhood meetings, numerous citizen commissions, and a healthy selection of advisory committees. The newly formed Good Neighbor Policy Committee is a prime example. Its members help set criteria for improvement projects proposed for existing neighborhoods. Certainly such involvement keeps city staff busy. Our Planning Department, in fact, reported it convened 125 neighborhood meetings in one year. But we believe the effort is worth it. Conversation and involvement all around mean a better quality of life and a better community. And that’s what Clovis is all about. Biographical Data
